kcmfontinst does no longer work

Uh... sorry. I was wrong.
I installed fontconfig in /usr/local (and you're right, it uses
/usr/local/etc/fonts/).
But as I could for the sake of it not get kdebase to compile because it was
always searching for a fontconfig.la in /usr/X11R6/... I moved then the libs
to this position, but it seems that fontconfig still uses the compiled in
path.
I will recompile fontconfig.
Still, can you give me a hint why KDE is looking in /usr/X11R6 for it?
I mean, I have made "make clean, make distclean, make -f Makefile.cvs,
configure " ... don't know what I could have done else.
Also, in all Makefiles I really found /usr/local/... as the path for it.
Still, the libtool script (or whatever it calls) was trying to do a grep in
the /usr/X11R6/...fontconfig.la file ...
From where the hell does it get this location ?
(I removed all *fontconfig* files from /usr/X11R6/...)
