But for 3.4 this is too late.

I suggest to decrease to 10pt for 3.4 and introduce a default-font selector in 
kpersonalizer for 3.5/4

Don't understand what you like to show with that output.
The idea behind the font size in POINTS (not PIXEL) is to make it independent 
of the actual resolution or screen size, because 1 point == 1/72 inch.
