a) This REALLY should go on the kde-usability list. cc-ing.
b) I always adjust my font to something larger upon installing, so the fonts
are not too large per se.
c) If the font is too large, it is easy to reduce it. If it too small
(=unreadable) it is much more difficult.
Suggesting not decreasing font size, or determine it interactively and/or
dynamically when KDE is first run. E.g, using the xrandr program I can get
*0 1600 x 1200 ( 363mm x 272mm ) *85 75 70 65 60
1 1024 x 768 ( 363mm x 272mm ) 85 75 70 60 87
2 800 x 600 ( 363mm x 272mm ) 85 75 72 70 65 60 56
[...]
Then go for something sane (also for people that are more than 60years of
age), like 4mm X-height, and offer a wizard to adjust the base font size in
the first-time startup wizard.
