I know, and that is what I see. I was giving my xdpyinfo output to make clear 
that I do not have a configuration problem (which you also correctly mention 
at the bottom of your mail).

"Looks nicer" That's the whole point.
I think it is important for KDE to present itself as a nice desktop.

12 points is simply too large to look nice.
