As I said the practical difference might be that it's *much* easier to 
download, it can be downloaded on any OS (you won't have problems with 
the file names or permissions), and of course I could just ask my wife 
to download the tarballs at her workplace. ;-) And this would be just 
for the initial import. Once everybody has the local svn checkout, 
things go alright with svn update. ;-)
