look at the two hierarchies. one starts with C:/ and one with $HOME. $HOME
_is_ "My Documents". we also stuff settings in there as well, but hide them.
populating $HOME with folders for common items (music, photos, video, etc) is
a question of taste i suppose. it certainly assumes a lot about the user, but
then perhaps the desktop has matured to the point of providing lots of safe
assumptions. though it's fairly common on the platform for people to keep
things like large bodies of music outside of $HOME for system-wide access or
to shove them onto a different partition w/out mounting things in $HOME.
then there's the question of search based folders. much more interesting =)
