It's much easier to upgrade kdelibs from 4.0 to 4.1 than update the OS of a 
window machine.

I wonder how much DLL your wife has to install. (I guess she updated MS 
Internet Explorer with his set of Windows core library :-) )

Compare things that are comparable.  If one user want to update kdepim, i'm 
sure he is capable to upgrade kdelibs in the same time.
