 I see, I think I ignored the thread while still processing mails accumulated 
during my vacation. It's interesting to see how few people know that this 
"application" (if KNotify can be called so) has been in KDE since ages.

 This is probably something more suited for the xdg at freedesktop.org. I asked 
on the gnome list about the proposal being discussed there.
