I'm the author of EventWatcher.
I just wanted to note that in case you decide to use parts of it as a 
base, I would happily be helping in any way I can, as I really would 
appreciate some integrated and lightweight KDE "message handler".
Initially this was the intention of EventWatcher. But I'm pretty unsure 
about further directions for the development, and at the moment I'm not 
working on it anymore.
