Actually I could make the changes in the FreeBSD directory with 
#ifdef's.  It just seemed to be
cleaner to do this as a separate platform.

The problem is DragonFly doesn't show up as a FreeBSD kind of platform. 
  I have to
lie to configure that it is FreeBSD currently to make KDE compile.  
Patches have been sent
upstream so GNU tools can detect DragonFly as an independent platform.

That said I will try to generate a better diff and send it upstream to 
the list before the freeze on Sunday.

I will probably get to this tomorrow.
