I have arts and it works, I don't care about the glib dependency, my PC is 
connected to my HIFI system and I usually don't listen what the PC outputs on 
the soundcard, but I listen to music from the HIFI. In that case the system 
beep is the only alternative to get some sound if there is a problem. So 
please, don't remove it. It is useful in many cases. I believe this is also 
true at companies, where you usually use headphones to listen to the music, 
but you can't have them on your head all the time and getting some kind of 
sound notification is useful.
