My understanding of the ASSIGN state is that I plan to work on this 
_now_ and intend to have it ready by the next release. That's also what 
I would expect if someone marks a bug/wish reported by me as ASSIGNED.
I'm sure that there are at least a few reasonable wishes for KMail which 
are already pretty old and that I don't have time to implement anytime 
soon. How would I prevent such a wish from being auto-deleted if you 
even intend to delete NEW wishes?

If wishes imported from the DBTS shouldn't be marked as NEW then the 
importers of those bugs should be told to not do so.
