I'm afraid there's no request for it bugs.kde.org.

I'm not sure how many people actually use the search bar, but I did receive 
quite some positive reactions when I added it. However, if most people turn 
out to not use it you may just as well disable it.

But if you want to make the toolbars less crowded I'm sure there are many 
buttons which can be cleaned up first, even the most clean browsers (Firefox, 
Safari) have a search bar nowadays. IMHO the search bar gives a clear 
indication about a feature which otherwise would go unnoticed to most users. 
The location bar may then default to an I'm Feeling Lucky search if no prefix 
is given. (Though the current behaviour would case the search bar to also use 
I'm Feeling Lucky then...)
