This issue was raised in regards to packaging. If you release kopete as part
of kdenetwork, and it actually gets packaged as part of kdenetwork, then in
order to upgrade a protocol plugin, you need to upgrade the whole kdenetwork
package.
The solution to this, as coolo pointed out, is to alert packagers that they
should package kopete separately. But if it needs to be packaged separately
anyway, I fail to see why it should be part of kdenetwork in the first place.
kdeextragear seems more appropriate then.
