IIRC, it is OpenOffice (or StarOffice) which sometimes creates PDFs with a 
postcript ending. This resulted in several "kghostview doesn't open my 
postscript file" type of bugreports.

(see the bug mentioned in dfaure's commit posted in the thread for more infos)

Just to say that this is a real issue which caused problems, not just a 
theoretical one.
