After applying the patch I found that delayed popups work as expected, the
bugs are gone. However, non-delayed popups do have some obscure behavior:
When you move the mouse onto them, only part of the icon becomes framed. If
you then click inside the frame, nothing happens until you move the mouse
(while the mouse key is still pressed). When clicking outside the frame,
everything works as expected. I attach a screen shot to visualize the effect
of a half-framed icon.

I do not know, though, if this effect may be because I did not update Qt since
KDE 3.1 came out.
