Being the author of the KSMIMECrypto class, I was not aware of the
patent. I will look into this and try to find out if and how it concerns
KDE. I was hoping to make S/MIME available to all KDE applications, may
be integrating with KMime later.

If IBM requires licensing every application, this generic approach would
be impossible.
