To me that woule be a disadvantage because of the following reason:
* I prefer using the keyboard instead of mouse: keys work faster for me.
* Therefor when I am going to enter a URL I do this by pressing Ctrl-O
and typing it into the nice, wide input line: The next action will
be using the keyboard anyway, so why not start with keys one step
before, instead of fiddeling with the mouse to hit the URL line.
--> So the separate edit dialog is useful for me. :-)
* In cases when I want to open a local file instead of surfing I either
type in the file name in the same edit line using the [Down] key for
path completion or I press [Tab] [Enter] and get the File Open dialog.
--> So the file open dialog is reachable even for keyboard adicts. ;-)
IMHO everything should stay as it is: I personally like this a lot and
would be a bit sad if the comfortable, wide edit line dialog would be
gone.
But of course: That's matter of opinion!
