Laptop users get rather big menus in the K menu, or in their bookmarks menu, etc.
and they deal with it just fine :)
I don't think the Create New ... menu will ever be as big as anyone's
bookmark or K menu.

My comment wasn't really about the amount of work, but about confusing with
the user with yet more configuration options.
I really think this kind of thing doesn't need to be configurable.

Not really. How many items are there in your "Create New" menu, in the worst
case of the above 3?
IMHO the first solution is the best, because it only puts one item in the main
RMB menu - which is already quite overcrowded.
