Any idea how to solve this ? I know, I know, kdeextragear is not targeted at
being ready at some point and each program is going to be packaged
separately, but how do translators have to deal with always moving targets ?

Kdeextragear is a mess for translators. There is no freeze of messages for
the module and each application goes its own way. Unless kdeextragear
follows a proper release cycle there is no way that you can get good quality
translations.
