Really? did the usability study in our GUI testing lab result in that?

Sorry to be sarcastic here, but I don't find the current default behaviour 
usable, and I have seen no other GUI behaving like this (and it is 
completely inconsistent with all other widgets in KDE). It does not make a 
good default behaviour to me. 

So, the only reason for why it is default is that "several thousand users 
want the current behaviour" ?  Any proof about that?
