I guess you didn't bear gedit of "simplicity's own desktop environment"[tm]
Gnome2 and its plugin system in mind? :-)

It seems that Joseph already worked on this.

Better how many? Do you have an answer? If there is really such big demand for 
such simple editor I would expect demand to move it to kdebase. Where is it?

As pointed out, not enough commits to keep it up-to-date (eg find dialog).

Well, three - there is also krichtexteditor (blame me for disabling it ;).
