Just read up on connect etc it would be possible to connect a signal to 
another signal but i prefer the way i did it for consistency

connect( somecontrol, SIGNAL(somechange()), this, SLOT(slotchanged()))

in kate there a 3 levels of hyrarchie in the config stuff 
so it would be consistent along the 3 levels.
