Right guess, I'm running a Xinerama-setup so I can confirm your guess :)

Yep, and it's especially ugly for windows you 'want' to stick to your 
screen-border, when you move that window to another desktop it's suddenly not 
sticking to its screen-border anymore.
Also for things like xmms with main-window and playlist-window the behaviour 
is weird because if the two windows sticked together before they usually 
don't afterwards and your xmms-windows are scattered all over the new 
desktop.

Both ways of placing windows have their own logic, I for myself still think 
sticking to the old coordinates is the appropriate way.
