i18n changes are not a big problem yet (according to the release plan),
nor the docu changes associated to the new feature.
So it all boils down to whether you feel the new feature is safe
(i.e. not broken by itself, and doesn't break other things).
Since you seem to be confident about it, I think you should go ahead and commit it.

After all Stephan implements new options in KPat without asking ;-)
(and he feels safe about it because, well, a broken KPat isn't the end of the world,
as much as I love KPat ;)
