I think the more important distinction (at least in their present state) is
that the "Fonts" module is for screen fonts only while the "Font Installer"
is an overall solution (screen + printing) which works, BTW, not only
system-wide but also on a per user basis.
With "getting rid of" I was more thinking of something like "integrate the
Appearance -> Fonts module somehow with the hopefully upcoming theme /
style / design manager" rather than leaving it as a module of its own. Just
a thought. Maybe it would already help to rename it to "Screen Fonts".
