Hi everyone,
I've only learned about it today, so I figured others might not be aware
of it yet, either:
Every year for the last 8 years, the Ministry of Science, IST and Future
Planning of Korea (together with other partners) holds a competition for
open source software, giving out prizes for about US$26.000 in total,
the Grand prize is $8.000.
It aims at software that has been "developed within one year" (I assume
they mean within the last 12 months), but I've learned that projects
which are older but have undergone a major change or improvement within
the last 12 months are eligible for participation as well. Student
projects are especially encouraged to participate.
For further info, go to http://www.ossaward.org/eng/menu01.php
Registration ends at August 17, the deadline for software submission is
October 26
There is no set theme, any software licensed under an OSS license can
participate!
I think there are quite some projects within KDE for which it would make
sense to participate in this competition. And $8.000 would be nice to
have for a project, wouldn't it?
Cheers,
Thomas
