Description:
 Synopsis
--------
pnxsmbtool is a simple wizard for setting up a
Samba server that can be used for a home or small
office
network.

It will be shipped with the not-yet-released
PhoeNUX-OS distribution. So on other systems, it
may take a bit of work to get the dependencies
installed (see Requirements below).

Requirements
------------
PerlQt and Proc::Simple are required.

How to Install
--------------
First, you should untar pnxsmbtool. To do so, run
the command "tar -xvjf pnxsmbtool-XXX.tar.bz2"
where 'XXX' is the version.

Next, enter the directory and run "make install"
as root. You can then run it as described below.
Note that running "make" is not required anymore
as I have essentially done it for you.

How to Use
----------
Run the command `pnxsmbtool' as root and follow
the on-screen steps.

Current Limitations
-------------------
* Migrating UNIX users to Samba is currently
troublesome, as it relies on KSambaPlugin's tool
to do the dirty
work. Unfortunately, this tool is very
troublesome and I have personally not been able to
get it to work for
me and have had to add the users to smbpasswd
manually. I may have to write a new tool for this
if I can't
get KSambaPlugin's to work. Such a tool will be
made available as part of the pnxsmbtool
distribution if that
turns out to be the case. Also, the UNIX user
manager is hardcoded as 'pnxuser' which most
non-PhoeNUX users won't have.
* Only Red Hat-based systems (including Fedora,
Mandriva, etc.) are supported.

Bugs
----
* Refreshing the workgroup list blocks the GUI.

TRANSLATORS NEEDED! If anyone would be willing to
translate Pnxsmbtool into their native language, I
would be forever grateful. Please contact me if
interested.
