Description:
 Gebabbel 0.2 Beta is out.

Gebabbel[1] is a frontend for the famous
gpsbabel[2] command line tool. It was written
using Trolltech's[3] incredible Qt4 toolkit and
therefore runs on Linux, Mac OS X 10.4 (both Intel
and PowerPC Macs) as well as on Windows driven
systems. It is not a replacement for the existing
frontends but my attempt to learn more about cross
platform hacking using Qt4. gpsbabel converts
between various GPS file formats back and forth.

Features:

* Free software with source code published under
the GNU GPL. No ads, no spyware, no malicious code
* Cross-platform availability thanks to Trolltechs
Qt4 classes
* Arbitrary amount of named presets to store your
preferred gpsbabel commands. Example presets are
provided
* Pasting of gpsbabel command lines into a line
edit for easy preset creation
* Editing of presets via the graphical user
interface or the command line edit
* Highly configurable via its configuration file
* Usage of built in (Mac and Windows) or an
arbitrary gpsbabel executable
* gpsbabel updates will not necessarily require an
update of Gebabbel
* Support of almost all currently known gpsbabel
features
* Application prepared for easy translation to
further languages. Currently supported languages
include english and german

Gebabbel has successfully been used to exchange
data with a Garmin device. It surely contains
bugs, so if you find one please let me know.
Tranlations are wanted. If you want it to appear
in your mother tongue, translating it simply is
done by editing an XML text file. No programming
skills are required.

Changelog:
As of 20070225 Gebabbel is available as 0.2
beta1. It's the second release of Gebabbel.

This release includes:
* Changed source tree structure
* Internal rewrites and bug fixes
 * Improved search for the gpsbabel executable
* Statically using the -p "" option so gpsbabel
does never read a config file
* Improved presets, completely i18n'ed
* Split config files to user and system
configuration so future updates will preserve user
presets
* Improved option editing. Selecting an entry from
the combo will be appended to the current line
edit's contents and will not overwrite it
* Added options for all file and filter formats.
Options are offered dependent of the format chosen
* Added help texts for all formats and options
* Disabling the process button if processing seems
senseless (input file not found, no output
specified etc.)
* Support for the realtime tracking option -T
* Disabling all checkboxes as soon as the realtime
tracking option is chosen

Users of Gebabbel 0.1 will miss their presets
after updating to 0.2. Visit the preferences,
locate your configuration directory, open the old
config file and copy your presets over to 0.2.
Future updates will preserve user presets, so
sorry for the current inconvenience.
