hi everyone...

as i'm sure you all know, at aKademy this year we spent a good number of hours
detailing a plan for generating a new set of guidelines for KDE that includes
(though is not limited to):

 Human Interface Guidelines
 Accessability Guidelines
 Corporate/Community Identity Guidelines

to that end, we found the need to create a new mailing list for the discussion
of corrective patches[1] and final draft patches[2].

furthermore, we have an area in CVS in the www module to put our guidelines:
www/areas/guidelines ... the maintainers[3] of each of the modules have been
added as committers to this area. originally we wanted a separate module in
CVS for this, but as it will end up as part of the KDE website family it
belongs in www. if this move from its own CVS module to www/ is a problem,
please let me know.

we now have the technology bits we need in play, next is to get everyone up to
speed on the docbook format issues and start writing. people, start your
engines, we're getting new guidelines!

*cue the excited cheering* ;-)

[1] a "corrective patch" is one that does not include any new content but
corrects things such as spelling, grammer, broken links, etc...

[2] a "final draft patch" is one that contains content for one or more of the
guidelines that has already gone through a consensus, review and editting
process on the appropriate topic-specific mailing list (e.g.
kde-usability-devel for usability, kde-accessibilty for accessability )

[3] the HIG maintainers do not, AFAIK, have KDE CVS accounts right now? if so,
they should rectify that by sending a username and crypt'd 8 character
password to sysadmin at office.kde.org explaining what's up =)
