I am currently busy bridging the at-spi interfaces to Qt. You can get a
snapshot of a bridge bridging Qt to ATK and spi to Qt (so you can write
assistive technologies with Qt) on
http://trolls.troll.no/~harald/accessibility/.
One nice research project would be to write an assistive technology with those
new interfaces or work on the protocol itself.
Since we are mostly developers here without practical experience, another
exiting project would be to do some usability studies with disabled people
and find out where KDE can be optimized.
I believe the speech group has some projects going on, too.
Best regards,
Harald
