I don't know about kdm in HEAD, but I think it should offer some options like
this:
a) show username list and user/pass fields.
b) show user's name + username list and users/pass.
c) show user's name list and pass field.
The last one being the most weird I think it would make much sense for
desktop-only where there are less than 10 users (any common family which owns a
computar) and name repetition is not likely to happen... Maybe kdm may catch
the name repetition and in that cases show the username.
I said totally removing the username concept for the user as a very utopic long
term idea.
I think [a] and [b] are already implemented in kdm, am I wrong ?
Would it be too hard to implement [c] (I think some desktop distributors will
thank it, maybe we should ask them).
About Logout "username" and the log out dialog, I don't see why the username is
really needed, the name should be enough.
Thanks

PS: Is it posible to copy this request to KDE without removing it from KDM till
it's close here ?
