Updated Gcompris for Ubuntu

Dear all,

Re: GCompris request

Would someone have the time and expertise to undertake the "sync
request" mentioned the email messages below please? Despite Timo's and
Johnny's excellent help (including some step-by-step instructions as
mentioned below), this task is beyond a novice like me.

Completing this task could also have a flow-through benefit for the next
LTS version of Ubuntu and its derivatives (including Edubuntu) - a
better version of GCompris Gtk+ .

Thanks and regards

Robert.

PS. I note that gcompris-qt would also be in prospect for the next LTS
Ubuntu.

Hi,

I'm neither a ubuntu nor debian user so I don't know much about the process.

What I found that could help you: debian/patches/e93dccbd43217*.patch
should already be in the 15.10 release (it has been done in the master
in March so before the release:
https://github.com/gcompris/GCompris-gtk/commit/e93dccbd43217e3c47547033354d1a11db759974).
We are in the case: "applied by upstream".
So for me, there is no reason to have it anymore.

Then, you are in this process:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SyncRequestProcess#For_people_requiring_sponsorship

  * Source package name -> gcompris
  * Source package version number to sync -> 15.10-1
  * Where to sync from (e.g. 'Debian sid main', 'Debian experimental
    non-free') -> debian sid unstable

However, looking at
https://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=gcompris, there are the
data, dbg and all the sound packages. I don't know if we need to create
a bug for each of them?

On the page it is written:

There's a tool that automates the bureaucratic part of the sync request
process, *requestsync* in the ubuntu-dev-tools
<https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-dev-tools> package.

Maybe it can help you?

What you can also do is to ask in the devel list of gcompris
(gcompris-devel at kde.org), maybe someone has the knowlegde/time to look
at it?

Johnny
