Hi,

GCompris is used by many organizations to help children in emergency
situations. I am not personally involved in such project but for sure we
all appreciate that our hard work helps these children.

I just received the following proposal. I don't know anything more about
this project than what is publicly available [1].

I am not very motivated by this kind of competitions, It usually implies
a lot of overhead just to manage the contest and it is hard for us to
respect deadlines. Anyway, I would like your input, do you have ideas to
propose and would you be interested in participating in a such event.

I cross post to KDE-Edu as it may be of interest for other projects.

Bruno.

*Dear Madam/Sir*,

The government of Norway is leading an innovation competition to develop
a smartphone application that can help Syrian children learn to read and
improve their psychosocial wellbeing. Today, three million Syrian
children are unable to attend school because of war. Many are coping
with trauma and high stress levels which affect their ability to learn.

Because of your relevant expertise I’m writing to alert you to this
competition and invite your participation in our upcoming dialogue
conferences.

I also wanted to share some of the great benefits of participating in
this competition:

  * Funding for the development and testing of the best designs
  * R&D input from world-class experts
  * High visibility and showcasing of the best applications (and their
developers) to key players in the mobile industry
  * Contribute to improved learning and psychosocial wellbeing of Syrian
    refugee children

I encourage you to visit our website <http://www.norad.no/eduapp4syria>
for more information about the competition and dialogue
conferences. We’d value your contribution and hope you will consider
registering for one of our dialogue conferences:

· Oslo (also live-streamed) on Oct 26 (register online here
<http://www.norad.no/eduapposlo>)

· Washington, D.C. on Oct 29 (register online here

Kind regards,

Liv Marte Nordhaug,

the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad)

*On behalf of the competition partners: the Government of Norway, the
Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), All Children
Reading: A Grand Challenge for Development, the mobile network operator
Orange and the Inter-Agency Network for Emergency Education (INEE).*
