Hi,

No there is no new tarball and no new official release. We are in string
freeze at the moment so a new release will be there in the coming weeks.

I was not aware of this numbering scheme. Can you point me to where this
scheme is documented, can't find it.

Definitly yes. Everything that can help us distribute better GCompris to
our GNU/Linux users is good.
