[gcompris-devel] problem installing gcompris on ppc

i have installed gentoo linux on an imac g3 350 (ppc architecture).

gcompris (gentoo emerge) runs but it is an earlier release. i would like to install the most current release. during the past two weeks i have installed and re-installed both 8.4.11 and 8.4.12 tarballs from sourceforge. i have not changed any of the default settings (except for trying enable/disable binreloc).

i continue to get the startup error can not find or load skins/babytoy/....

i have gcompris running with no problem on an opensuse distribution. searches using google would indicate that this problem has occurred frequently and that patches are available. however, i have not been able to find one as of yet.

any assistance or direction you can provide woult be most appreciated. the apple imac would be a great educational system for my grandchildren.
