Hello,

This week end, with Bruno Coudoin and Christophe Merlet we discussed
longuely about the OFSET web site issue and the features we want to
implement. Bascly we identified the following needs:

- Concerning the main informational web site. We want something more
dynamic with neat features to translate easily the web site in various languages.

- Concerning the dedicated projects of free software for education we
want a system able to host the projects pages and where end users can
very easily contribute education oriented content related to the
projects.

For example if we talk about GCompris, we would like to host as today
the various information pages concerning the game boards, as well we
want end user to provide pedagogical activities sheet related to a
specific board.

If we talk about DrGeo, I would like the user manuel to be avalaible
online to be edited and translated in various languages. Also I would
like a section where user can contribute DrGeo geometric figure with
work sheet. Probably LaTeX may be need in the back end.

Of course we can extend this to all software projects. You got the point
about what we could do.

So far we have look at Spip and Glasnost
(http://glasnost.entrouvert.org).

As far as we have looked it appears that Glasnost is more adapted with
what we want to do for the following reasons:

- Glasnost translation system is quite evolved

- It is able to manage group of user, which is *mandatory* in our
project as we want to have contributors interested to contribute to only
a subset of the web site and not messing with the other part

- It can manage SPIP structured text and aswell reStructured text, based
on Docutils (http://docutils.sourceforge.net/) able to handle among
other thing LaTeX input.

- It looks to me quite easy to create additional publishing object type
and we will for sure need that.

What do you think?

Hilaire
