No problem ;-). At least for me. Don't know about Bruno and the other 
developers, though.

But gcompris launches itself, no? You just don't have the python activities. 
(Which is a pity, but not a blocker). At least that's what I had on my 
Mandrake 9.1 box if I remember well. If I succeed in compiling the latest 
code on a MDK 9.1, maybe you will have an rpm for the 5.x series one of these 
days. But chances are slim, though. I don't work as hard and as late as 
Bruno ;-).
Give a try to the gcompris-4.2-1-mdk91.i586.rpm on the gcompris download page 
at sourceforge.net. It 's the last one that worked out of the box for me on a 
Mandrake 9.1. And install the assetml rpms for your language first. Since the 
4.x series, you need them.
I wouldn't use the --force option of rpm before you've tried everything else.
