I much prefer to do it automagicly, but perhaps something similar to htmlview
is in order, we make an educated guess, but let the user specify it by
creating say .audiorc and putting the audio type into it. then we look at
that file for what we should use. I'm all for that because then I can write
scripts for everything in my repo to look there and use artsdsp where
appropriate and esddsp where appropriate.

I get background music on fedora core 1. maybe you don't have the proper audio
driver?
