Yes, if I remember me good, it will be something like this. I just wrapped many available gcompris functions to python.
But I don't remember if the sound functions where in a separate python package.
It is maybe gcompris.sound.play_ogg(...)

I don't have the source here, but I will try to take a look at it tomorrow...
