yup

Your distro ubuntu has packages (which expect to be installed as root
BUT . . )

The software is the same, apart from . .

1/ an USERLAND update of nxloadconfig to point to wherever you want to
install it all, instead of a common root installation

*** see attached nxloadconfig diff ***

2/ a few patches

3/ nxagent now has a wrapper script sitting in in the exe path
 which sets
        LD_LIBRARY_PATH
then launches the nxagent binary
so
you can de-arc the libraries and nxagent to wherever you want
and
update the wrapper script to suit . . .

The original FreeNX developers went off to a proper life in 2008.

Since then various patches have been applied by various people.

Each distro has its own slightly different version, but most of the
core script is the same.

The distros mostly update their libraries and nxagent packages when
nomachine release an ( open source ) update

OK, I see now. I have a copy but hadn't searched it . .

Whilst the FreeNX code is more or less the same, the libraries and nxagent
have had quite a few patchs applied by nomachine.

so

my advice is to
        download the ubuntu packages,
        rename your NX4U directories
replace them with the new software by unarchiving/extracting

        eg ar x *.deb

update the nxagent wrapper to point to whete you just extracted
the binaries.

Update nxloadconfig, or just rename the new one and copy back the old one

Try it again.

It might not fix your issue but I think its more than 50% likely to
do so . .

Good luck !!

Let us know how you get on . . . .
