That would be no problem.
(I tried the official Nomachine server, this didn't work out without
root access).

But the rest of http://freenx.berlios.de/download.php is as old as NX4U.

Is there a newer source of FreeNX I am not aware of?

They are included in NX4U.

No, just as explained in the NX4U package, I untared it to ~/NX4U. I
then added ~/NX4U/bin to my personen search path and adjusted nxloadconfig.
