[FreeNX-kNX] NX disappears after starting

Can you log in as the same user at the local console and get a normal
desktop?   And maybe a long shot, but do they happen to be VMware VMs
with the vmware tools installed?

Are user id's mapped consistently?  If not and it is a problem, you
should see the same issue in a local console login.
