Maybe not, but I don't see why it wouldn't.

They seemed to have had mainly compilation problems which you
don't report.
Not many people seem to be requesting it, so your best
option is to try it, as you are doing.
When you compile all the NX stuff yourself you are left to get
the LD_LIBRARY_PATH wrapper scripts etc working.
If you can get nxagent going then I guess you will be OK
because FreeNX is mainly scripts running the agent
session, tho' you need to compile nxserver-helper to
set up a unix socket for "slave" mode.
What error message(s) did you get when running nxagent
locally ??
eg.
error while loading shared libraries ??
Server is already active for display ??
Could not connect ??
and
Did you get a black nxagent window ??
