[FreeNX-kNX] (maybe GNU screen with nxclient) Fast resume of sessions that keep getting disconnected - any ideas?

Dear All:
My apologies to bother. I have the following interesting problem with the NoMachine NX client.
I am using a Starbucks AT&T Wifi Hotspot, and it seems to _drop_ the connection intermittently, after which I must authenticate (through a script run by NetworkManager automatically) before I have a "real" internet connection again.
I am using NXClient (latest) 3.4.0-7 with freenx, but before had same problem with nxserver from NoMachine.
1) Upon disconnect - client (in full screen mode) does not recognize disconnect, and does not actually close. I tried changing the timeout in the (client machine - Ubuntu 9.10) node.conf but to no avail. Unfortunately, this seems to be a signal interefence problem (?) rather than signal strength, as my new giant antenna does not seem to help

:(
2) Upon reconnect - well it takes quite a bit of time after I manually kill nxssh using killall -9 nxssh.
Is there, perhaps, some way to use nxclient with, say, GNU screen on the other end to keep the session alive?
Thank you
Misha
