hi,
first of all, i'm delighted about the FreeNX-project in general,
i used it years ago already a few times, and again recently on Gentoo,
and CentOS,
and i'd like to have it running on Debian in the future
i was looking at the FreeNX clients page :
http://openfacts2.berlios.de/wikien/index.php/BerliosProject:FreeNX_-_FAQ/Clients
1) is there actually a recent and working, open source client for FreeNX ?
2) the following links give 404-errors :
kNX, for use on Linux/Unix with KDE, available as source from the
"kdenonbeta" module. SUSE RPMS at
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/X/NX/
another "commmandline client": "nxshell" by Markus Schaefer,
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/ms/nxshell/nxshell-1.2-12.i586.rpm
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/ms/ is actually completely gone,
and this :
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/X/README.NX
gives the info :
Client
------
- use NX Client from Nomachine:
http://www.nomachine.com/download-client-linux.php
- NX, FreeNX packages are *not* required
- qtnx currently does *not* work
- knx is obsolete (and does not work either)
the last webpage i found about QtNX is from 2006, and nxrun and moznx seem
to be from 2005
a scroogle-search for nxshell, and kNX does not get me any further in
finding the source
for those two clients
i'd like to try open-source NX-clients on Debian and Ubuntu, with a
running FreeNX-server 0.7.2,
is that plausible ?
or is it a matter of waiting till those clients catch up with the
changes in the FreeNX-server
source ?
