I believe the answer is supposed to be yes.

both keyboard and mouse work for me using the 3.0.0 backend and a 
3.0.0-84 client on linux or windows.

I'm not using Debian though, so maybe there's some istro related difference.

FWIW I've done a quick writeup of how I got it working on Slackware at 
http://nx.darkvoyage.org.uk I don't know if it's useful for other 
distros though.
