   No, this isn't a NX thing, standard X11 (IIRC) security measure  
preventing other users accessing your X11 session.

   open a xterm (as your logged-in user) and run:

   xhost +root

   This will allow the user root to access your X11 session, so you  
can now start X11-applications as root as your used to do.

   For more information about this, do a 'man xhost'
