I am currently working on node.conf got the log level to debug, and made some good progress.
No I need to get the user's PW out of NDS...

Read the comments in node.conf or node.conf.sample.
These should make it clear to you how to do what you want. They
should also teach you a few more tricks and tweaking options.
Also, please note that the latest versions of FreeNX (and also of
NoMachine NX) do default to the behaviour you want.
