[FreeNX-kNX] 1_5_0 Backend?

I'm running Centos4.2 with freenx 0.4.4 and the nomachine 1.5.0 client
on W2k as mentioned earlier.  When I configured the server, I left the
1_5_0_Backend disabled as was the default.  I've seen it recommended
here to enable that.  I can connect (though not always reconnect after a
network glitch.)  Should I enable it even though I'm able to connect or
just leave well enough alone?  I know that it has something to do with
fake cookie authentication", but what is that exactly?
